Happiness Investing in Barrington Real Estate – Take Your Time to Find The Right Home
Buyers come in many forms. Some are relocating to the Barrington area from out of state, others may be moving from a nearby town or from the urban busyness of Chicago, you might be looking for a short term property or a long term family home or even a pre-retirement home. Whatever the reason is Barrington real estate is not cheap.With a median price of about $600,000 buying a home in Barrington is more than that, it’s likely also about investing in the right real estate and lifestyle.
I am not talking about investing from the perspective of looking for a high return on your purchase when you sell, I am looking at investing in the right choice for you and your family. It’s a big decision and should not be taken lightly or done as soon as you can. Considerations like schools, churches, employment, walking to town or not; home size, style, condition and price, all play a part. Of course the money plays a part and picking a good house for re-sale does factor in as well.

A recent client of mine apologized for the length of time it is taking to find the right Barrington home. Yes we have been looking for about nine months now but the client is sure of what they want and not about to compromise. As I explained to them, their house purchase is an investment in their happiness. I do not want them to settle on a property just because there is nothing else that suits them better. That can only lead to a less than satisfied feeling and likely, several less than happy years in the property.
So whether the house is just not for you, or the school district is not what you want, or there is too much updating and you don’t want to have to do it, or indeed if you just cannot see the value and don’t want to get into an aggressive offering situation, I totally understand. Your home will come, and both you and I can be as patient as we need to be.
If you are wondering should you wait to check off your entire checklist of wants and needs I would caution you not to. If you can get most of it and compromise on some of the less important aspects, you’ll find the home you want. The only way to truly get everything you want in a house is to have a custom built home on the perfect lot. So look at the list and decide what is not critical and let’s see if we can achieve all the others.
So what are the main reasons we have not found the right house. Over priced homes with outdated kitchens and bathrooms, and there seems to be a lot of these in Barrington real estate listings right now.
