There’s no doubt our minds are full of Holiday ideas, gift buying, celebratory meals and for the youngsters the excitement of Santa builds on a day by day basis to a crescendo in 26 days time. Christmas trees are being decorated, and if you care to decorate the outside of your home, we couldn’t really ask for better weather. Did I hear 60F by Monday? The Holiday season is under way, frankly I need a little snow to put me totally in the winter holiday frame of mind.
What’s just around the corner? Yep you got it 2013 is almost upon us. Where did that year go. Be warned you youngsters, as you get older I am here to tell you they go faster and faster. As I look after a friends dog, because they got stuck abroad for a bit longer than expected, I am thankful that November and December is quieter than the rest of the year, it gives me time to plan for the next year, and give Rosie the attention she deserves while Mom and Dad are away.
What are your plans? Do they involve selling your Barrington home? Will you be ready to present your home to buyers as soon as 2013 startes? Should you start the preparation now?
Like all things when it comes to selling real estate, only you can make those decisions. It’s never for us Realtors to instruct you to do something, gosh I hate that even I get preached to by other Realtors in my market about what I should or should not do and even worse what my clients should do. That’s one of those little annoying things I have to deal with and make sure those sometimes offensive comments never reach the ears of my clients. I can take it, this job requires thick skin, although I would be a liar if I said they don’t affect me. My nature is not harsh and cold and uncaring, totally the opposite, so yes those “know it all comments” can be very hurtful and I do take them personally, but that’s what makes me the person I am.
Back to the question of preparing your home to sell. If you are in the market to sell your home in 2013, a year is a long time. Regardless of whether you are considering January or December 2013 as the right time to start the process, education is power. You may have sold a house last month or not for twenty years. The laws of real estate are never static and the way real estate is marketed is constantly changing too, along with all those seller fees. Why not help yourself to a little refresher education.
