Luxury home sales in the Barrington Illinois area have yet to reach the high sales year of 2005 when we had 37 homes above $1.5 Million sell. Of course we know home values have fallen but I thought it would be interesting to make a year over year comparison using the same minimum price.

As suspected most of the 14 sales for 2012 were South Barrington and Barrington Hills, 7 and 6 respectively, with one from Inverness. The highest price sale was $7,500,000 and of all the sales it’s somewhat surprising to see a foreclosure sale in there, for a property in Magnolia Pointe South Barrington. The total volume was $34,270,266 which gives us an average of $2,447,876 per sale. The median (middle) sale was $2,195,000.
The home sold for $7,500,000 was a cash sale and according to the MLS, was a 2004 built 30,000 square foot home, with 70.66 acres of land. The buyers bought a beautiful estate house on an exceptional piece of land in Barrington Hills.
